Two things are different in the new Soho branch of Burger & Lobster, while one thing has remained the same. The first noticeable difference is that B&L Soho is bigger, much bigger in fact than Clarges Street. There's even enough space to allow a dedicated drinking area where you can wait ahead of your table being ready without feeling that you're getting in everybody's way. When seated at the table, with the restaurant extending deep into the building, you don't feel that you're part of a scrum as it can sometimes seem in the ever bustling Mayfair branch. A higher table count also means more capacity but don't be mistaken, this is still an incredibly popular venue with many still discovering B&L for the first time and you should still expect to wait for a table at peak times.
The second thing that's changed is stock management, so that would be lobster stock then. What I mean here is that behind the scenes, lobsters are now stored in smaller tanks rather than bigger tanks. None of this will be seen by the diners but at the margin (and I'm guessing here a little bit), it should improve the quality of the lobster.
What has stayed the same however is everything else, that is the three part menu (burger, lobster, lobster roll), the price of £20, great cocktails and the always friendly service. If you find yourself in town with no meal plans but want to grab some food with friends (as was my situation this week), B&L makes it so easy and affordable that it's the obvious choice.
Desserts, which we haven't covered in our previous post are shown below. There are two options, cheesecake or chocolate caramel, and both come in disposable pots and will arrive in minutes if not seconds after ordering (remember, their business model is dependent on turning tables). The desserts are pretty good but are very sweet indeed so be ready for that sugar rush. They're in keeping though with the offering and at £4.50, again, not budget busters.

After my fourth visit to the Mayfair branch I thought 'I'm over the lobster thing now'; I was very much mistaken and have been back to B&L many times since. The reality is that Burger & Lobster (both branches) offer great food at affordable prices in a fun environment, and so often on a night out, that's exactly what you want.
